St. Kilian's JNS have been working with their Maths Eyes over the past number of years and using this approach to maths to make it fun, enjoyable and interesting. All children have access to a digital camera and they frequently take photographs with maths content. This approach helps children to see the world in a mathematical way and it encourages them to see maths all around them.
We were delighted to have a Maths Eyes winner in the National Competition in 2015, thrilled to have two winners in 2016 and overjoyed to have three winners in the national competition in 2017.
The three children were Glenn Keogh from room 16, winner in the under 11 category, Aoibheann Wright from room 5, winner in the under 7 category and Evie O'Connor overall winner in the under 7 category from room 1. The three children attended the award ceremony with their parents and teachers on 30th May 2018 and they were photographed with Minister Richard Bruton. Well done to all three children for their terrific achievement. See photos of the event below. The last three photos feature our winners from 2015 and 2016.
